Ideal Tridon, an engineered components manufacturer formed through the 2011 merger of the Ideal and Tridon brands, is expanding its clamps division.

Smyrna, Tennessee-based based company, owned by private equity firm Snow Phipps, recently announced that its ZSi-Foster subsidiary has acquired Auburn Hills, Michigan-based Hydra-Zorb — a supplier of pipe, hose, and tube clamping. Purchased for an undisclosed amount, Hydra-Zorb’s products cater to the markets of hydraulic, HVAC, plumbing, and refrigeration. The company is credited with the invention of the cushioned clamp.

ZSi-Foster was acquired by Ideal Tridon in 2019 as a manufacturer of engineered clamp, coupling, and strut support systems. Ideal Tridon’s clamps division is a designer and manufacturer of stainless steel and specialty clamps for applications by original equipment manufacturing operations and replacement market channels.

The Hydra-Zorb purchase follows Ideal Tridon’s June 2018 acquisition of Italy-based Clamp S.r.l. and Boyertown, Pennsylvania-based Campbell Fittings.

Ideal Tridon brands itself as a leading supplier of worm gear, t-bolt, band, strut, specialty clamps, hose supports, conduit, fastening solutions, fittings, and couplings. Its products connect and support pipes, tubes, and hoses that convey gases, liquids, and electricity. The company has three locations in the U.S., two in Mexico, one in Canada, one in Europe, and three in Asia.
